Assessment Requirements

Semester 1

• A11: 1st written exam in general mathematics
• A21: 1st written exam in Analysis and Probability
• B11: mock oral exam (analysis or algebra) if at least one lesson was presented in Semester 1
• B21: mock written exam (algebra or analysis) if at least one lesson was presented in Semester 1
• B31: ABC Option Modeling

The final grade for Semester 1 is calculated as S1=(A11+A21+B11+B21+B31)*6/60

Semester 2

A12 = 2nd General Mathematics Exam
A22 = 2nd Analysis and Probability Exam
B12 = Unsupervised Problem Set  (Algebra) if at least one lesson is presented in Semester 2
B22 = Blank Development (Analysis) if at least one lesson is presented in Semester 2
B32 = ABC Option Modeling

The final grade for Semester 1 is calculated as follows:
S2=(A12*4+A22*4+B12*6+B22*6+B32*10)/60

Required supporting documents

• Cover letter
• All transcripts for completed academic years/semesters from high school graduation through the application date
• Resume.

Optional supporting documents

• Letter of recommendation or internship evaluation.
• Students not enrolled at ENS Paris-Saclay are asked to include a recent letter of recommendation.
• Detailed description and total number of hours of courses taken since the start of the university program.
• VAPP application (required for all applicants seeking recognition of prior learning to gain admission to the program)
• Any letters of recommendation.
• M2 course selection form (required for applicants enrolled in Master 1 at Paris-Saclay University)
• Supporting documentation for exiled applicants with refugee status, subsidiary protection, or temporary protection in France or abroad (optional but recommended; only one document is required):
     - Residence permit marked “refugee” from the country of first asylum
  - OR receipt marked “refugee” from the country of first asylum
  - OR document from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees recognizing refugee status
     - OR a receipt indicating refugee status issued in France
  - OR a residence permit indicating refugee status issued in France
  - OR a document attesting to subsidiary protection status in France or abroad.

Preparing for the Exams

The competitive exam consists of 2 written exams (General Mathematics and Analysis and Probability) and 3 oral exams. 
All exams are prepared for, whether written (lectures and solved problems) or oral (lectures, lesson preparation, mock oral exams).

Preparation takes place within the Department of Teaching and Research (DER) in Mathematics for the written and oral exams in General Mathematics and Analysis.

• The “Probability and Statistics” and “Scientific Computing” modeling tracks are prepared and coordinated with the preparation program at Orsay. Some elective courses therefore take place at Orsay.
• The “Probability and Statistics” and “Formal Computation” electives are largely prepared at Orsay.
